Pilot Plant Operator

We are seeking a skilled Pilot Plant Operator on behalf of our client, an industry leader in technology development within the chemical sector. Based at their Wilton site, you’ll play a vital part in operating and managing a pilot plant facility.
  
You will manage daily operations, conducting chemical analyses and testing processes that drive technology advancements. The role demands high standards in safety, process understanding, and problem-solving to ensure smooth and safe plant functionality.
  
You will work within four teams of two technicians for two 12-hour days followed by two 12-hour nights with four days off. There is a set break in the summer and one in the winter, during this temporary contract (approximately for one year).
  
Key responsibilities:

• Executing and overseeing safe operations of the pilot plant following established procedures and safety standards
• Conducting sampling, chemical analysis, and data interpretation to assess plant performance
• Troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying equipment to maintain operational efficiency
• Recording and documenting operational status through logbooks and computer systems for handover
• Maintaining safety protocols, including emergency response, and issue permits when necessary

Qualifications and experience:
  

• NVQ Level 3 in Process Operations or equivalent
• Operational experience in a similar environment
• Strong analytical skills with experience in chemical process and safety management
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for teamwork in a shift-based setting
