Section Head

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, Whessoe Engineering, for a Section Head – Process / Process Safety / Instrumentation / Electrical to join their engineering delivery team based in Darlington.

This position is responsible for providing technical leadership and line management to a multidisciplinary engineering team, ensuring the delivery of safe, compliant and cost-effective design solutions.
  
Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and line management to a team of approximately seven engineers
• Coordinate engineering resources across both project delivery and tender activities
• Ensure designs are delivered in line with time, cost and quality expectations
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards and legislative requirements
• Collaborate with project management and other engineering disciplines to resolve technical challenges
• Support business development activities, including client engagement and technical discussions
• Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes and standards
• Mentor, coach and manage team performance

Requirements

• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional qualification
• Demonstrable experience within process or process safety engineering in hazardous process plant environments
• Experience leading or supervising engineering teams within project delivery settings
• Strong knowledge of European and North American engineering codes and standards
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational capabilities

Preferred Experience

• Experience with cryogenic handling and storage systems
• Knowledge of tank design and associated equipment
• Experience supporting tendering and business development activities
• Familiarity with software such as HYSYS and Office 365

  
This role is well suited to an established engineering leader or a Principal Engineer with line management experience looking to progress into a senior leadership position.
