This is a key laboratory role providing analytical and technical support to plant and site teams. You will carry out routine and non-routine testing accurately and reliably, support laboratory systems, maintain quality and environmental standards, and help ensure the production of safe, high-quality tonnes.

You will also support laboratory improvement, equipment care, investigations, new test methods, training and technical guidance for shift teams.

What you’ll be doing
You will:
  • Carry out analytical and routine testing accurately, reliably and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain high safety standards using COSHH, Zero Harm tools and strong housekeeping practices.
  • Review, update and maintain laboratory documentation and systems.
  • Support development, implementation and evaluation of new laboratory equipment and test methods.
  • Train shift personnel, apprentices and less experienced colleagues in new techniques.
  • Maintain laboratory and plant-based equipment, including inspections, calibration, validation and troubleshooting.
  • Act as a point of contact for contractors and service engineers.
  • Support plant and laboratory shift teams with sample preparation, routine testing, non-routine testing and environmental samples.
  • Lead investigations into ad-hoc samples, complaints, environmental samples and quality issues.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and present findings to relevant managers.
  • Interpret, record, input and report analysis results quickly and accurately.
  • Escalate out-of-specification or non-conforming results promptly.
  • Support waste management, sustainability and cost control responsibilities.
  • Deputise for the Quality Lead when required.
  • Provide operational cover, including shift work, when required.

Candidate requirements
We welcome applications from people who have:
  • A relevant scientific, engineering or technical qualification, or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Strong experience in a laboratory, testing or technical analytical environment.
  • Practical knowledge of quality and environmental management systems.
  • Understanding of analytical test methods and associated techniques.
  • Experience interpreting and reporting analytical results.
  • Confidence supporting investigations, root cause analysis or technical problem solving.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with plant, laboratory and management teams.
  • Experience with X-ray fluorescence, colour spectroscopy or particle size measurements would be beneficial.
  • A proactive, safety-focused and quality-led approach.
  • A commitment to inclusion, continuous improvement and values-led behaviours.

We know people gain skills in different ways. You do not need to meet every point above to apply. If this role interests you and you believe you could make a positive contribution, we would welcome your application.

Why join Tioxide?
Join Tioxide in a technical laboratory role where your analytical skills will directly support quality, production, environmental performance and continuous improvement at a major manufacturing site.
