An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially minded Business Development Executive to join a well-established precision engineering company specialising in high-quality subcontract CNC machining and fabrication services.

Working closely with the Technical Director and Estimating team, you will play a key role in identifying new business opportunities, developing long-term customer relationships and supporting the continued growth of the business.

This role would suit someone with an engineering or manufacturing background who enjoys building relationships, developing new business and working within a technical environment. Full training will be provided on the company's products, manufacturing capabilities and internal systems.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing customers across the UK
  • Generate new business opportunities through proactive business development activity
  • Arrange and attend customer meetings and site visits
  • Work closely with the Technical Director and Estimating team to understand customer requirements
  • Follow up quotations and convert enquiries into profitable orders
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the company's CNC machining and fabrication capabilities
  • Identify opportunities to maximise existing customer accounts and develop long-term partnerships
  • Maintain accurate customer records and sales activity using CRM systems
  • Monitor market trends and identify new sectors and business opportunities
  • Represent the business professionally at customer meetings, exhibitions and industry events
  • Work collaboratively with production, quality and engineering teams to ensure customer expectations are met
  • Comply with all Company Quality, Health & Safety and Information Security procedures
About You
  • Previous experience in business development, technical sales or a customer-facing engineering role
  • Engineering or manufacturing background
  • Commercially aware with excellent relationship-building skills
  • Confident communicating with customers at all levels
  • Self-motivated with a proactive and positive approach
  • Well organised with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical information
  • Full UK driving licence
Desirable
  • Previous experience within subcontract precision engineering
  • Knowledge of CNC machining and fabrication processes
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience using CRM, ERP or MRP systems
  • Previous experience within engineering business development
