As an EHS Officer, you will play a key role in supporting and driving health, safety and environmental excellence across site operations.
 
Key responsibilities include:
  • Building strong working relationships with site personnel and promoting a positive safety culture through regular site inspections, safety interactions and engagement activities.
  • Ensuring compliance with corporate, business and site EHS policies, procedures and legal requirements across all operational activities.
  • Supporting the continuous improvement of EHS performance by identifying opportunities for enhancement and implementing agreed corrective and preventative actions.
  • Managing and monitoring controlled waste disposal activities, ensuring full compliance with environmental legislation and company standards.
  • Providing professional EHS guidance and advice, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and industry best practice.
  • Supporting the development, implementation and review of site improvement plans and IPPC permit obligations, working closely with the EHS Manager to maintain full regulatory compliance.
  • Reviewing, updating and auditing safety procedures and management systems, identifying non-conformances and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
  • Promoting and supporting the site's Behavioural Safety Programme, reviewing observations and driving actions to maintain programme effectiveness and workforce engagement.
  • Coordinating the procurement, issue, management and maintenance of site PPE, including budget monitoring and stock control.
  • Supporting and leading EHS projects, initiatives and steering group activities to deliver continual improvement across the site.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications We are seeking a proactive and solution-focused EHS professional with a strong background in high-hazard industrial environments and a passion for driving safety excellence.

To be successful, you will have:
  • Previous experience within an EHS role in a continuous process manufacturing environment, such as chemical, oil and gas, pharmaceutical or related industries.
  • Experience working on a COMAH-regulated site and a sound understanding of associated regulatory requirements.
  • NEBOSH Certificate as a minimum, with a NEBOSH Diploma desirable.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience delivering training sessions, toolbox talks and presentations.
  • Experience carrying out risk assessments, job safety analyses (JSAs), inspections and compliance audits.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to identify risks and implement practical solutions.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
