About the Opportunity Wolviston Management Services are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer on behalf of a leading organisation based in Middlesbrough.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established engineering team, where you will play a key role in supporting and developing electrical and automation systems within a industrial manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Plant Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects, major maintenance initiatives, and continuous improvement activities across the site.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide electrical and automation engineering support to site operations.
  • Manage and deliver CAPEX and major maintenance projects from conception through to completion.
  • Monitor plant performance and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of significant equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to ensure the successful introduction of new equipment, technologies, and process improvements.
  • Develop technical specifications for equipment, products, and engineering services.
  • Manage external contractors and suppliers, including contract administration, site supervision, change management, and claims resolution.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
About You To be successful in this role, you will be a motivated and proactive engineering professional with excellent communication and leadership skills.
You will ideally possess:
  • A Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent qualification).
  • Previous experience within a heavy industrial engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HV and LV electrical installations.
  • Experience with Siemens S5/S7 PLC programming and communications systems.
  • Proven fault-finding and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Knowledge of closed-loop control systems, PID control, and Siemens AC/DC drives.
  • Experience managing contractors, suppliers, and project delivery activities.
  • The ability to write clear and detailed technical specifications.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and engineering standards.
  • APM, PRINCE2, or similar project management qualifications.
