Senior Sustainability Specialist

Location: Stockton on Tees

Wolviston Management Services are recruiting for a Senior Sustainability Specialist to support the delivery of Tioxide’s sustainability strategy and provide technical leadership across ESG reporting, environmental performance, customer sustainability requirements and continuous improvement activity.
  
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced sustainability professional to take ownership of complex programmes, manage robust sustainability data and work cross-functionally with Commercial, Procurement, EHS, Operations and Regulatory teams.
  
The Role
As Senior Sustainability Specialist, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of sustainability activity across the business, ensuring sustainability data, reporting and customer communications are accurate, robust and aligned with business objectives.
  
You will take ownership of key sustainability programmes, including EcoVadis, carbon footprinting, ESG reporting, customer assessments, environmental performance monitoring, Product Carbon Footprint and Life Cycle Assessment activity.
  
The role will also act as a senior day-to-day sustainability contact for customers, suppliers and external assessment bodies, supporting customer engagement, responsible sourcing requirements and sustainability-related information requests.
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day delivery of sustainability strategy, objectives and continuous improvement programmes.
  • Own sustainability data collection, validation and reporting processes.
  • Establish robust data governance and maintain audit-ready evidence.
  • Lead sustainability and environmental performance reporting across energy, greenhouse gas emissions, water, waste and other ESG indicators.
  • Support Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions reporting.
  • Provide technical input into Product Carbon Footprint and Life Cycle Assessment activity.
  • Manage EcoVadis assessments, improvement plans, evidence gathering and action tracking.
  • Respond to customer ESG questionnaires, audits, responsible sourcing programmes and sustainability information requests.
  • Provide sustainability advice to commercial teams and develop customer-facing sustainability communications.
  • Work cross-functionally with Operations, EHS, Procurement, Commercial and Regulatory teams.
  • Monitor emerging sustainability regulations, reporting requirements and industry developments.
  • Promote sustainability awareness across the business and support internal and external communications.
  
About You
You will be an experienced sustainability, ESG or environmental professional with the ability to manage complex data, lead reporting activity and influence stakeholders across multiple business functions.
  
You should be confident working independently, comfortable representing the business externally and able to translate technical sustainability information into clear, practical and commercially relevant outputs.
  
Essential Experience
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Chemistry or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in sustainability, ESG, environmental management or a related technical discipline.
  • Evidence of independent ownership of complex sustainability programmes or reporting processes.
  • Experience managing, analysing and assuring complex environmental or sustainability data.
  • Experience establishing data governance and maintaining audit-ready evidence.
  • Experience leading sustainability reports, assessments, questionnaires or external disclosures.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to customers and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple functions and business areas.
  
Desirable Experience
  • Experience managing EcoVadis assessments or similar sustainability rating programmes.
  • Knowledge of GRI, SASB, TCFD, UN Global Compact, SECR or equivalent frameworks.
  • Understanding of Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 carbon accounting methodologies.
  • Experience with Product Carbon Footprints or Life Cycle Assessment methodologies.
  • Experience within chemicals, materials, manufacturing or industrial sectors.
  • Understanding of customer sustainability requirements and responsible sourcing programmes.
